Ingredients

125g unsalted Grand fermage butter
250g flour
125g caster sugar
1 sachet of vanilla sugar
Pinch of salt
1 egg
1 egg yolk for the egg wash

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Cut the butter into pieces and leave it to soften at room temperature.

Combine in order: flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, salt, and egg. Add the softened butter, cut into cubes.

Mix by hand to obtain a firm, even dough.

Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough onto a baking tray to give it the desired shape.

Crimp the edges of the dough with your fingers. Use a fork or knife to decorate the dough with lines.

Use the egg yolk for an egg wash on top (optional)

Cook for 30 minutes at 180ºC.

Break into pieces to serve.
